Movie Description: Directed by Aditya Lakhia, Dangerous Ishq is a remake of the 1966 movie also titled "Dangerous Ishhq". The story of this original film was based on Rudyard Kipling's novel "Mandalay". Watch the love affair between Catherine, an heiress, and her client Bob. When Catherine asks for help with her pet project - Burma railway - she meets Bob who turns out to be one of the project consultants. The story unfolds in Burma during British occupation when British officers used local girls as mistresses. Catherine becomes one of these officers' mistress until she finds out that Bob is in love with her while still being married to another woman. The movie is produced by Amit Mehra, who wants to make a film with Aishwarya Rai. He approached Rai for this project after she did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with him. Rai was initially reluctant but agreed when she saw the script. The movie also stars Arjun Rampal and Irrfan Khan. This movie has been shot in Jammu & Kashmir's Gulmarg, Sikkim, Ladakh and Burma. The story takes place in British India during the Second World War. In August 2011, Aishwarya Rai & Arjun Rampal were shooting a song sequence on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar. The scene was a romantic one featuring Rampal and Rai, with beautiful locales of Dal Lake City behind them. It seems that the viewer's heart will flutter after watching this scene. In an interview, Arjun Rampal revealed that he felt excited about his role as an army officer, which witnessed the return of his long lost love after he killed two adversaries in a wrestling match. The action scenes are choreographed by Ahmed Khan from Mumbai, who has been described as having been "meticulous" and "thorough". When asked about his role as an army officer, Arjun Rampal replied, "The story is very interesting and the present day Burma sequences are very well-made. In the film, I play a Bengali Army officer who falls in love with a local girl who meets her death during the British occupation of Burma. She has been killed by a British officer to lure my character into fighting with him."
In 2009, Aishwarya Rai was approached for a remake of the 1966 film "Dangerous Ishhq" starring Dev Anand and Madhubala. The director Aditya Lakhia was going to use an original script written by his brother. Aishwarya Rai said, "I really liked the script and the character. The story is not based on Madhu-Dev's film but has shades of it." The film went through several directors like Umesh Mehra, Milap Milan Zaveri and Navdeep Singh before Lakhia was roped in to direct the movie.
The Times of India gave the movie 3 out 5 stars saying, "Dangerous Ishhq is an old wine that is very difficult to pass off as new. And yet, there are elements that make you feel like watching it again.
